The goal of counseling is for you to learn effectively to respond to your challenges. In a collaborative stance with your counselor, you will learn to explore your goals by analyzing options feelings thoughts, and behaviors. In so doing you will be able to achieve answers to your questions and solve your problems too.
- A therapist may not be in a position to help me since they may not have had similar experiences?
a therapist has gone through efficient training that allows them to be exercise competence to understand where possibly you have challenges when facing a difficult situation.
The counseling process is confidential, which means that we cannot release any information about you except under certain legally prescribed conditions which will be shared with you during the intake interview
Intake is a time for you to meet with a counselor to determine if our counseling center has the best service to address your needs. Once you have scheduled an intake, you will arrive about 30 minutes before the intake to complete forms. This information is reviewed by a counselor before the appointment, to ensure that we have an accurate, initial first impression regarding your needs.
The intake counselor will spend 45-60 minutes discussing your concerns with you. At the end of the appointment, the intake counselor will discuss next steps concerning how you can start the counseling process
If S2S cannot offer the services that best fit your needs, the intake counselor will work with you to get you connected to a more appropriate resource.
During your initial intake assessment, you and your therapist will have a conversation around deciding if your needs are best met by the Counseling Center or are beyond our expertise. Largely the counseling sessions will depend on the presenting issues presented to the counseling. You and your therapist will speak regularly about your progress, eventually, you and your therapist may determine when you have met your therapy goals.
The frequency of therapy is mutually agreed upon by you and your therapist and is largely based on the presenting issues and the goals of treatment.

Shoulder to shoulder counseling center is registered by the government of Kenya to offer counseling and related services from the year 2012, Counselors working at S2S are registered with the national bodies of counseling. Upon intake counselors do provide you with their professional disclosure statement, registration certificates and numbers from their respective bodies as you contract with them
